B&W&Pink Mini Blog Fest - Fall 2010
This is one of my all time favorite quilts, made for the Journal Quilt Project and shown at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. I love the graphic nature of the pink, fuchsia and black and white. It was a lot of fun to do such small piecing (the blocks are are about 2.75"-yes less than 3"). The paper pieced pattern was designed by my sister Donna and this is a sample for her class. It is a mix and match sampler: there are 6 pairs of blocks with the same pieces but each twin looks different based on color placement. See if you can find the match for each block.
There is a pattern available.
Don't forget to visit my other favorite -- part of my antique quilt collection (a cool blue and white schoolhouse quilt).

The quilt is visually stunning. It really stands out from the crowd. I love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing little quilt. It is hard to believe how small the blocks turned out. I am always attracted to black and white quilts, especially if they have an accent of some bright color. That's why I am so attracted to this one.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink & black, great pattern!
ReplyDeleteI was so surprised to read the size of the block! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeletePink and Black are my favourite! It's beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteOh boy, stunning. Miniature quilts always amaze me :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen red, black and white, before, but the magenta instead of the red is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI found all the pairs! But I would never have the patience to do something this tiny - with a big quilt you can ease out any uneven pieces and distract everyone by pointing out other bits that you did great, but this is entirely perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that is a tiny quilt! Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteIt definately is a quilt of color play. I loved the one you put into the Springville Quilt Show too--the Crazy Quilt--that was a kick! You just keep coming up with wonderful surprises.
ReplyDeleteLove this great bold quilt. Great fabric selection.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt really pops. I love the quilt and it's a miniature quilt! I like black and white, and pink you added to it.
ReplyDeleteThe pink, black and white are stunning. I love that color combination.
ReplyDeleteYummy colors! I've been pondering a black, white & red quilt...but this has definitely pushed me to dig into the hot pink stash instead.
ReplyDeleteOMG - can't believe that's the size of a piece of paper!!! wowowowowow! Plus save on shipping to Houston LOL!
ReplyDeleteStunning! I can't believe the blocks are so small-perfect piecing!

ReplyDeleteI had to click on the photo to bring it up bigger to be able to figure out the pairs. It took me a while, but I finally got it. This was a great lesson for me in the use of value - it certainly makes a difference, doesn't it. I'm not a pink person, but have to say the combination of hot pink and black is definitely appealing.
